Sawn timber production process

1. Forest harvesting

Up to 70% of Segezha Group's demand for timber feedstock for the production of sawn timber is provided by its own logging operations in Arkhangelsk and Vologda Regions, the Republic of Karelia, and Krasnoyarsk Krai.

We can guarantee the necessary volume and the consistently high quality of the feedstock base thanks to our in-house logging.

2. Sawmilling

Feedstock is cut on a sawmill line using high-tech equipment. Sawn timber is produced through a cutting process.

3. Sawn timber drying

Sawn timber is dried in BOLLMANN (Germany), MULBOK (Italy), Jartek (Finland), Baschild (Italy) drying chambers to the ultimate humidity of 12±2%.

4. Sawn timber optimization

  • Dry sawn timber from the drying chambers enters the glued timber shop.
  • It is aged for at least 2 days there and fed to Sistem TM optimization line.
  • The temperature and relative humidity of air in the shop is maintained continuously and is recorded by a thermohydrograph. The timber moisture content (minimum timber temperature is 150°C) is measured by an automatic timed moisture metre. Timber with a moisture content exceeding the regulated value is automatically rejected.
