Onega Sawmills

Production of sawn timber

Onega Sawmills is located in the town of Onega in Arkhangelsk Region. The production site's round timber sawing capacity is 554,000 cubic metres per year.

Onega Sawmills makes sawn softwood and industry-grade wood chips that are compliant with the Nordic Timber Rules. Sawn timber cut to size is made from pines and conifers; it is then dried to a transportation grade moisture content of 20–22% and shipped abroad. The mill's products are certified for compliance with international environmental standards.

History

In 1914, Onega was home to 5 sawmills and Wolhoff's timber exchange. On 17 July 1921, the sawmills in Onega were reorganised as the Severoles Trust and, on 1 November 1923, they became the property of Rusnorvegoles.

August 1957 saw the establishment of Onega Sawmills (comprising sawmills Nos. 32, 33, 34 and the hydrolysis plant). Onega Sawmills JSC was established in 1992.

The company's products, under the ONEGA brand, have made a name for themselves all over the world since 1997.

In 2012, a project to modernise the facilities of Onega Mills was given the status of a priority forest development project.

Onega Mills has been a subsidiary of Sistema's Segezha Group since 2014.
