Sokol Timber Company

Production of sawn timber, glued timber and prefabricated house kits

Sokol Timber Company is the largest timber processing company in European Russia. It has enough capacity to process 550,000 cubic metres of raw lumber per year. The production facility is located in the town of Sokol in Vologda Region.

Segezha Group uses Sokol Timber Company to produce glued timber (glued timber components) and prefabricated house kits. A key product offered by the company in the glued timber segment is glued construction beams made of high-strength wood that can easily withstand the elements. The high quality and unique properties of the construction beams allow them to be used in the construction of not only wooden structures but also other types of structures and buildings in combination with other materials.

Sokol Timber Company makes prefabricated house kits of glued beams. Segezha Group offers custom designs to each client to meet specific environmental and fire safety requirements. Sokol Timber Company has already delivered more than 7 thousand prefabricated house kits all over Russia and around the world. S-DOK produces more prefabricated house kits from glued beams than any other company in Russia.

The entire production chain for prefabricated house kits is operated by the group and is certified for compliance with European standards.

History

History

The production facility was first commissioned on 15 April 1942. In the more than five decades of its history, Sokol Timber Company has significantly expanded its product range to include a slew of products from prefabricated structures to deep-processed timber pieces.

In the 1980s, Sokol Timber Company became the first company in the USSR to begin producing glued beams and prefabricated structures made of them.

In 2013, Sokol Timber Company successfully implemented a project to expand its deep timber processing capacity, which was treated as a priority forest development investment project. The comprehensive modernisation allowed the company to expand its capacity to 489,000 cubic metres of sawn timber and 86,000 cubic metres of glued timber and prefabricated structures per year.

Sokol Timber Company has been a subsidiary of Sistema's Segezha Group since 2014.

In late 2020, a new CLT panel production facility with an annual capacity of 50,000 cubic metres per year was launched at Sokol Timber Company. In June 2019, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation included it in the list of priority forest development investment projects.
